Let’s dispel the misconception straight away that Gt’s are stupid eating machines. Although they are ferocious opportunistic predators preying on virtually anything they can be very selective at times. The standard techniques do not always work but we have found that employing different hunting strategies can produce results.
Giant Trevally are numerous, including very large specimens, often glimpsed by the watchful eye. A myriad of other species that inhabit the coral reef abound, keeping the angler busy while waiting for the Gt’s to appear, (often at lightning speed). These include Bluefin Trevally (which are prolific), Yellow Spot Trevally, Trigger Fish, Bonefish, Permit, Boha Snapper and a host of others.
Glen’s hosting services include advice and assistance with hunting tactics and techniques, casting and timing of casts, line management, use of stripping baskets, stripping techniques, playing of the Fish and sighting of fish. Fishing is predominantly done on foot, on the flats and in the surf zone.
